Reported Celtic target Scott McKenna has suffered a hamstring tear and will be missing from Aberdeen action for two months, potentially scuppering a big transfer move for the player, according to The Scottish Sun.

The paper had previously reported at the weekend that the Hoops were considering making a bid for the Scotland international as they looked to address the lack of depth in Brendan Rodgers’ defensive line.

After limping off during Aberdeen’s match against Rangers on Sunday though, a scan has revealed a torn hamstring injury that will keep him out of action for two months.

That could deter Celtic and English Championship Swansea, who were also said to be interested in the player, from making a firm offer for the 21-year-old.

He’s highly-rated at Pittodrie, with his manager going on record to share his belief the player will play in the English Premier League one day and the club reported to value him at a massive £10m.

Is it now more likely he’ll be staying with the Dons until January at least?
