Danish journalist Rene Schroder has suggested that Erik Sviatchenko is on the verge of joining Midtjylland.

The defender has been with the club on loan for some time and won the Danish league not too long ago with his current side.

This, of course, comes after Brendan Rodgers decided that it might be best for him to leave the club for a little bit and it might look as though we’re not going to keep him.

Schroder said:

This roughly translates that a deal is close to being agreed and that the 26-year-old will be on a contract to 2022 if it comes through.

The Verdict

It’ll be shame if Erik goes as I think he still has stuff to give but if Rodgers doesn’t see it then I won’t argue too much.

He’s got strength but I do wonder about his pace and his ability to cut out the mistakes that have plague him.

Perhaps it’s for the best.
