As Celtic look to strengthen their defence, it seems another defender is being linked away from the Hoops.
Shane Duffy joined Celtic this season in a blaze of glory. A Republic of Ireland International with bags of English Premier League experience was supposed to come in and help bolster the back line in the push for the title.
Duffy has struggled to find form since his move and with his well publicised personal issues it is little wonder.
It seems now that Duffy is being offered a release from his Parkhead hell as English Championship side, Nottingham Forest, seem to be keen to take the big Irishman on for the rest of the season.
Forest apparently have approached Brighton for permission to speak to Duffy but the Seagulls know that any potential move depends on whether or not Celtic and Lennon want to cut their losses with Duffy.
Duffy had to fly home from the ill fated Dubai winter training trip to deal with personal issues at home but did find himself on the first team sheet as the COVID isolation debacle had decimated the Hoops squad.
Celtic have shelled out a hefty £2m loan fee and a weekly wage in excess of £25k for Duffy and it is not known whether the board are willing to take the loss and move on or continue with the terms until the end of the season.
If Duffy goes, at least he has a Scottish Cup winners medal to his name to show for his time at Paradise.
