NK Vara?din’s Croatian Under-21 international right-back Dino Skvorc was having a trial with Celtic this week.
“Skvorc is extremely important to our team and if a club wants to buy him, they will need to spend seven figures in a foreign currency” – Samir Toplak, NK Varazdin FC |
Skvorc is currently in Glasgow trying to impress as Bhoys manager Neil Lennon considers making a move during the forthcoming January transfer window.
The 20-year-old has previously risen through the youth ranks at international level, and recently made his first start for the Croatian Under-21s in their November friendly with Slovenia.
However his coach, Samir Toplak, has stated it would take a sizable offer to secure a player who is understood to be equally comfortable at either full-back or centre-back.
“We are in a delicate position simply because we do not have a replacement for him,” Varteks coach Toplak told evarazdin.hr, reports stv.tv. “Skvorc is extremely important to our team and if a club wants to buy him, they will need to spend seven figures in a foreign currency, preferably Euros. Otherwise, we will have nothing to talk about.”
It is understood that Italian Serie A club Udinese and Russians Zenit St Petersburg have also been monitoring Skvorc’s latest progress.
