Striker Leigh Griffiths has urged new team-mate Virgil van Dijk to have another go at the Champions League with Celtic next season rather than move to England in the summer.

“If he wants to stay it will be great for the team and the fans” – Leigh Griffiths

It follows van Dijk’s agent Henk-Maarten Chin publically stating that leading clubs south of the border were interested in recruiting the former Groningen defender.

“I’d definitely say he’s good enough to play in the top four in the Premier League,” Griffiths told the Daily Record. “He’s one of those you just can’t put a price on. I’m sure there’ll be a lot of offers coming in for him in the summer.

“But he’s a very good player and I wouldn’t want to see him go,” he added. “We’re going to be in the Champions League again next season, albeit we still have the qualifiers first. I hope Virgil takes that into consideration. If he wants to stay it will be great for the team and the fans.”
