Celtic attacking midfielder Ryan Christie is on the brink of an exit from the club, with Sunderland eager to sign him this summer, according to The Scottish Sun.

The transfer window is closed in England, but Football League sides still have the ability to make loan signings and the Black Cats are looking to exploit that by making a temporary move for Christie, with a view to signing him permanently in January, say the paper.

The report also states that with just a year left on his contract at Celtic Park, Christie won’t be offered a new deal by the club.

Clearly he is deemed surplus to requirements by Brendan Rodgers, who has given him a chance to prove himself as part of the first-team squad this summer.

That came after an impressive season on loan at Aberdeen last term, where he scored eight goals and assisted 15 times, emerging as one of the best players in the division away from the Hoops.

Despite that form, he has no future at Celtic Park and hopefully we can sort out his future over the coming week and send him on his way with our best wishes.

Should Ryan Christie received more of a chance to shine in Celtic colours? Let us know in the comments below…
