Does anyone really believe a former Galactico could end up at Celtic – Opinion

Right. Let’s put this to bed right now.

Cristiano Ronaldo is not coming to Celtic. It is a completely bizarre rumour just like the Gareth Bale rumour that started at the beginning of the summer.

As covered by the Irish Mirror, Alan Brazil opened up the debate when he made this outlandish suggestion on talkSport, “He wants Champions League football. Celtic?

“What if (Dermot) Desmond sends his private jet for him?”

I don’t care who claims our club could make it happen. It simply won’t.

For many reasons.

Put it this way, can you see Ronaldo rocking up to Dingwall on a wet Wednesday night in February to take on Ross County?

Or rolling up his socks to play Livingston on a plastic pitch?

No matter how much money Celtic could offer and even with the guarantee of Champions League football, Ronaldo will have the pick of ANY club in the world that could offer a more attractive league to play in and also a more hefty pay packet for his troubles.

Look, I would love it to happen but I am a realist.

Even if the Portuguese superstar agreed to join Celtic, we couldn’t afford him even if he took a 90% pay cut.

It’s fanciful nonsense blown out of proportion by the media.

I believe not one Celtic fan believed it when it was suggested.
