Celtic star would be “perfect replacement” for Premier League star with £60m fee predicted

|

Odsonne Edouard has done little to ease the fears of Celtic fans after scoring a hat-trick on the first day of the season against Hamilton as speculation surrounding his future continues.

Speaking to Football Insider, Noel Whelan, believes that there could be a transfer merry-go-round, if a Premier League star moves on from his current club.

So what has Whelan said?

When asked if that he felt Edouard would be a perfect replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, should he leave Arsenal this summer, he said:

“The worry is that he has scored three goals.

“It is a gutting thing that he scores three and they start their season before the Premier League.

“We already know that Premier League clubs are looking at him. All eyes are on him.

“If Aubameyang goes Arsenal need to strengthen and he could be the perfect replacement for Arteta.”

So is Whelan correct?

Unfortunately for Hoops fans, yes, Edouard would slot seamlessly into Mikel Arteta’s starting line-up and given the already strong French contingent at the club, adjusting to life in the Premier League would be significantly easier at the Gunners.

Is Edouard really worth £60m?

Yes

No

No

The way that Arsenal play would suit him and having Kieran Tierney there as well would only serve to make the settling in period easier, it is the proverbial no brainer, should Aubameyang depart of course.

Former Celt, Harald Brattbakk, has suggested that Celtic could demand a transfer fee of up to £55-60million, if an English bidding war kicks-off, and should Neil Lennon lose his star man, it would certainly soften the blow if he had funds of that nature made available to splash out on a replacement – not that he will be getting chased out of the door anytime soon.
