Celtic seems set to dip into the English transfer market again in January to expand the squad for the second half of the season.

According to Newcastle Chronicle, the Hoops could land 19 year old midfield sensation, Joe White, for a nominal fee in the winter window, or the Magpies could risk losing him for free in the summer.

Bu the Hoops may face serious competition from the continent as the report claims that teams from Germany and Holland are circling the highly sought after teenager.

Rangers are also thought to be in the mix, but with their financial troubles it would seem that any move for White would be dependent on the young Geordie accepting a pre contract agreement as the Ibrox club may now, looking at their recent transfer moves, be able to afford any kind of fee to secure the youngster.

With White entering the last year of his contract and with Newcastle suddenly finding themselves the richest club in the world after their takeover, it is more likely that The Magpies are going to spend to strengthen their squad for English Premier League survival than give a youngster the opportunity of first team football.

And this could put the Hoops in the driving seat.  Celtic have a great reputation of signing young talent  from the English leagues, developing them and then selling them on to larger clubs for huge profits.

And White could look to the recent examples of Moussa Dembele and Jeremie Frimpong as inspiration for taking the leap north of the border.
