A report today from English media outlets suggest that Leicester City and Arsenal are competing to prise Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard from Paradise this summer.

It’s no secret that Edouard is high on the list for ex Celtic gaffer, Brendan Rodgers, and as the French U21 star enters into the last year of his contract, the Celtic board would have been fearful of losing their prized asset at a minimal cost.

Rodgers has made the replacement of the ageing Jamie Vardy a high priority this summer and he himself believed he had the deal over the line in early March, but with no deal in place, this has alerted Arsenal and it is believed they will be both competing for the classy forward as the transfer window re-opens in July.

Mikel Arteta is looking to bolster his front line for next seasons assault on the English Premier League and it is believed he sees Edouard as the ideal man to lead his front line as they aim to sell Alexandre Lacazette to help fund the transfer move.

The Foxes are still believed to remain the favourites to capture Edouard as it has been widely reported the Frenchman is keen to hook back up with Rodgers who persuaded the Celtic board to part with a club record fee of £9m to sign him from Paris St Germain back in 2018.

It is understood a fee within the range of £15m-£20m would help tempt the Celtic power brokers to agree to sell Edouard but with at least two EPL clubs in the frame, the Celtic board could face a potential bidding war for the Hoops talisman.
