English Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion are tracking Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor ahead of a potential £10m move, according to The Scottish Sun.

The paper say Brighton boss Chris Hughton is a big fan of the Scotland international, joining teams like Bournemouth and Watford in showing interest.

McGregor has emerged as one of the most important players in Brendan Rodgers’ squad scoring in big matches, in Europe and generally providing an effective style of midfield play that links defence to attack.

Last season he scored 10 goals and provided 6 assists.

This term he hasn’t quite hit top form, especially in a wider role on the left flank, but when the Hoops are motoring in big matches then the 25-year-old is often at the heart of it.

£10m would probably be a pretty fair fee for the player but it’s so important right now that Celtic hold on to the big influential players in the squad considering our difficulties in bringing quality replacements into the club for departing stars.

Hopefully this is all just paper talk and Celtic manage to avoid big bids for players in January, we need to strengthen further from where we are, not weaken significantly again.
