Celtic fans are used to speculation about their players moving on to bigger leagues.
We all realise foreign players attraction at signing for us is not for the delights of Dingwall or the lure of Livingston.
It is to put themselves in the shop window as the majority of footballers want to get picked up by the mega money of the English Premier League.
And it’s not very often Celtic can fight off an EPL team when it comes to getting a hold of players. And they did just that when they signed Liel Abada.
Abada was impressing the scouts from Tottenham Hotspur as far back as April this year when Israeli media site One revealed that the London club were monitoring his progress and were tipped to make a €5m move for the nineteen year old.
Celtic nicked in there first and landed Abada for £3.5m and the young winger has not looked back.
That hasn’t stopped Tottenham fan site The Spurs Web revealing that they claim their club is waiting to see how Abada performs at Celtic before deciding to make a move for the Israeli international, “This seems like one to look out for in the near future, given he has only just secured a move to a new club.
“We shall see if Spurs continue to monitor how he does at Celtic and wait to see if they continue to hold an interest in him.”
Abada has been in great form for the Hoops this season as he has scored six goals and created four assists in fifteen appearances.
There is no doubt the dynamic forward has a great future ahead of him, but as the youngster remains under contract until June 2025, Celtic hold all the cards should Spurs decide to make their move.
