Euro giants set to bid for 23-year-old Celtic midfielder

|

Porto are set to reignite their interest in Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham, according to The Scottish Sun.

The paper say he was a big transfer target for the Portuguese giants back in the January transfer window when they were prepared to pay £14m for him.

The report states they are now ready to make a fresh bid for the Frenchman, but at a level much lower than that original January valuation.

Porto boss Sergio Conceicao is said to be a long-time admirer of the 23-year-old.

Ntcham has made 83 appearances in two seasons at Celtic Park but has found himself increasingly on the fringes of team selections this term after the emergence of Ryan Christie and Callum McGregor as our two most impressive midfield performers.

His form has been patchy and fans are growing impatient with the player, even if most recognise he does have enormous natural talent.

Recouping a pretty large fee for him this summer and reinvesting it in a more committed performer might not be the worst idea, although you’d fancy a new manager coming in and liking the look of him, perhaps unlocking the potential he holds.

It’s a positive dilemma to have and it’ll be interesting to see which route the club goes down over the next few months.
