Celtic are making signings now but it seems as though Charlie Nicholas is less than impressed with what we have managed to do so far.

The former Celtic man has got a regular column in the Daily Star and reckons that the signing of Burke isn’t actually that smart – suggesting he isn’t going to necessarily play regularly.

He wrote:

“Where does Oli Burke fit in for the Hoops? He’s not smart enough to lead the line.

“He’s energetic and fast but will he replace James Forrest or Scott Sinclair on the wing?”

You’ve got to say this is a little close to home with what he is saying and he does have a point – particularly about the wing, he wasn’t signed as a striker let’s be honest.

However, I would also say that we do need competition for places in the squad and Burke will prove a strong addition to the squad as we challenge on three fronts for the rest of the season.

I take his point, but I do not particularly agree with it to be honest. We’ll soon see how it’s going to work with him in the side.
