Explained: Why Celtic transfer is now a no-go

|

According to the Express and Star, Neil Lennon being offered the manager’s job permanently is the reason behind Oliver Burke not staying put.

The Bhoys have been brilliant again this season and after the treble was sealed the former skipper was offered the job.

Good for him, then, but bad for Burke who, as the report explains, fell out of favour under Lennon.

He looked decent under Brendan Rodgers but came out of the side more when the manager’s post changed and it looks as though he is back to West Brom with only a slim chance of coming back.

Indeed, he’s taken to social media to post a goodbye message and I think that is a bit of a shame, but to be expected.

I do like Burke and under the right boss he could have had a good career here.

However, if Lennon wants to go in a different direction it makes sense to not keep players around – especially when they’re only on loan.
