Faux bafflement at Celtic’s brilliant tweet on live radio? It’s just another liquidation denial

|

It was a moment of beauty.  Not the actual Celtic FC tweet (well OF COURSE that was) but I’m talking about the moment it was broken live on air on last nights Clyde 1 Superscoreboard by host Gordon Duncan to the pundits, Roger Hannah and Gordon Dalziel.

Duncan seemed hesitant when he was about to break the news of the tweet on the show when he said, “Celtic have just issued a very, very interesting statement Roger Hannah interesting in that it doesn’t say very much. Celtic Football Club statement, it says, ‘We are not half of anything, not our problem, #oneclubsince1888’

After a few seconds of silence Hannah finally responds, “Ehm, someone will need to explain that to me I have to say.  Is this from official club channels?”

Is "Rangers" a new club?

YES

NO

NO

Duncan, sounding awkward, responded “It’s on Twitter. You always double check is that the official account. Has it got the blue tick? Has it’s got the 715,000 followers? Yes. Has as someone hacked it? You never know but when you when you first see it you always have to try and double check these things but that’s all it says at the moment.”

Hannah persisted with his line of apparent confusement by remarking, “I’m sort of baffled by that I have to say. I don’t really know what they’re getting at. Do they  mean they are not half of The Old F*rm? I don’t know. I don’t know. Someone would need to clarify that for me.”

The way Hannah responded to the tweet by not responding was extremely telling as he has history of his belief that our Glasgow rivals are still the same club on a previous show just last week.

Regular listeners to the show know that Roger Hannah is BY FAR the smartest pundit on the show.  His knowledge of the game is outstanding but he has also been on the show long enough to know that the majority of not only Celtic supporters but Scottish football fans are of the same belief that “Rangers” are most definitely a new club and that the Old F*rm tag that has tied Celtic to them died along with that club in 2012.
