Barry Ferguson has given Rangers the edge in terms of this season’s title race and bases his opinion on one key area during a discussion on PLZ Soccer.
The former Ibrox skipper feels that Celtic’s lack of options to support Odsonne Edouard could be a deciding factor if they don’t strengthen in the January transfer window.
Ferguson told PLZ Soccer: “I think Rangers are slightly stronger in the sense that they have got Defoe, Celtic, on the other hand, Leigh Griffiths is still struggling to get back in terms of fitness.
“I think he [Bayo] is out injured. I think that’s clearly an area Celtic need to strengthen in January, as far as I look at it now, Rangers are in a better situation, with having two key strikers available.”
Edouard is currently Celtic’s only fit striker and Hoops gaffer Neil Lennon will be hoping for a safe return from international duties for the on-form Frenchman.
Celtic fans responded on Twitter to Ferguson’s claims and made their feelings known about the Ibrox club’s history with “advantages.”
