Celtic are facing competition in their hunt to add extra depth to their forward line with the news that Steven Fletcher has been offered deals with clubs from the English Championship.

The Daily Record reveals that talks have taken place between the club and the 33-cap Scotland international‘s representatives, however, they are refusing to pay over the odds for a player that is not guaranteed to start every week.

Neil Lennon appears to be adopting a Newcastle United approach from the ’90s under Kevin Keegan by ensuring that the goals scored column is significantly greater that the goals conceded – exciting times ahead for the Paradise faithful.

With a deal for Peterborough United’s Ivan Toney still not ruled out and Albian Ajeti of West Ham United considering his options, the Hoops gaffer could finish the transfer window with as many as six strikers at his disposal.

One player who looks to be heading out the door is Vakoun Issouf Bayo, the Ivorian was initially thought to be heading to St Mirren on loan for the season, however, Toulouse have now entered the bidding and would represent a more attractive option – if not necessarily the best for his long term future at Parkhead.

After the arrival of Vasilios Barkas, Lennon can at least be content with the core of his squad now given that the number one priority was always going to be about retention rather than recruitment, the only issue he faces now is whether or not the sparkling start to the season from Odsonne Edouard encourages further suitors to be tempted in to making a move for Celtic’s talisman and the best player in the country.
