The Kieran Tierney story is one that will always prick my attention.

One, because he is a former Celtic player and fans favourite and he is the first player ever to be sold directly to a top four club in England and two, we are due a significant chunk of change should he ever move on from the London club to progress his career.

And former Arsenal defender Bakaray Sagna reckons that Tierney may well have to fess up and ask for a move if he want’s his career to improve rather than stagnate.

As reported by Football Scotland, Sagna was talking to The Games Cabin when he said, “I think Zinchenko is here to stay for a long time, so Kieran is going to have to have a discussion with the club.

“Arsenal are obviously aware of his quality but if Kieran wants to play more, then I’m not sure he’s going to get in ahead of Zinchenko.

“It will be his decision of course and he can still be a part of Arsenal’s squad but as a player you always want to play more, so he will surely be asking to leave the club.”

Tierney is far too good to be sitting on the Arsenal bench kicking his heels.

His pedigree is not in question. He could easily walk into at least ten other clubs in the EPL’s starting eleven.

He knows this. The only question is will he get another top club or will he need to go to a club that has designs on breaking the monopoly at the top of the EPL?

A club like Newcastle perhaps?

This summer will be an interesting one.
