Remember when we bought Albian Ajeti for £5m, which now looks like a panic buy, and we could have got Amine Gouiri last summer for the same price?

Remember Celtic said Gouiri was too expensive? No?

Last year French football site Le Progres reported that the Hoops were seriously looking to take the French striker from Nice to add to the squad to bolster their bid for ten in a row.

Gouiri was tearing up the French Ligue 1 when Celtic reportedly made an approach to sign the striker but baulked at a deal when the French club quoted a price that it would take to prise him away.

Twenty one goals in in forty eight appearances tells you the boy had quality and at only 2o years old at the time, the potential of trebling your money on the youngster was there.

Even looking at his phenomenal u21 international goal scoring exploits tells you, this boy was going places. Just not to Paradise. Too expensive Celtic said. So what did they do?

They walked away and spent almost the same amount of money on Albian Ajeti.

Gouiri then joined Lyon for €7m (£6m) and he is now set for a massive move to Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, according to HITC, as the German club look for a replace for Erling Haaland.

With his current form, Gouiri is valued at £27m and any move now will cost potential suitors at least £30m plus.

And that just sums up the shambles that was last season from the club.
