Former Rangers star has shown himself up with ridiculous Celtic comments

|

Former Rangers star Colin Hendry claims Celtic can’t ‘fully achieve’ ten-in-a-row because the Ibrox side were not in the Scottish Premiership for a number of the title wins, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

Facing the possibility of unprecedented Hoops success, it seems that the narrative is shifting from Rangers being able to stop our march towards more domestic trophies to some of them not counting at all.

The Govan outfit of course has to restart in the Scottish lower leagues after being liquidated following financial scandal, working their way back to top-flight while the Hoops racked up league after league.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, Hendry said of their absence:

Everybody suffered. Celtic suffered because they didn’t have an Old Firm game to play and irrespective of them achieving what they are going to achieve, it’s not fully achieved because Rangers weren’t there for several years.

So you can argue it until the cows come home but the fact is that Rangers were not in that league when they did win so they are talking about their treble trebles or their nine and ten-in-a-row, to all of us outside of Celtic it’s not really what it is.

The comments are as ridiculous as when Dave King offered a similar sentiment a couple of years ago, claiming in 2017 that the Hoops had only won two titles in a row.

None of this washes with anyone outside of the Rangers support and all it does is embarrass anyone who repeats it.

Celtic have won the last seven league titles in a row fairly and squarely and we’re on the brink of an eighth. If a ninth or tenth follow then they will be well earned and any hurting Rangers fans will just have to deal with it.
