Forster’s stinging Celtic admission

|

Fraser Forster finally admitted tonight what we all knew at Vital Celtic all this time. He never wanted to return to Celtic as is heart was set on a Southampton career revival.

Speculation has been rife that Forster may have returned to Celtic in this transfer window with many Hoops fans holding out for a sensational return.

With Celtic boss, Neil Lennon, seemingly undecided on who is his No1 due to the indifferent form of Vasilis Barkas and Scott Bain, and with the emergence of Conor Hazard, the goalkeeping position has been a thorn in Lennons side.

Speaking to the Daily Echo Forster admitted, “It’s been a strange few years, it’s been a tough few years,” Forster told the Daily Echo.

Obviously it’s a club I love a lot. I had some fantastic times here in the past and I’ve always been keen to come back and try and play here.

“That’s all I wanted to do in the summer. I wanted to come back and give it a go and everyone’s been fantastic with me since I’ve been back.”

The news will no doubt disappoint a large proportion of Celtic’s fans bit at least now it should put this whole sorry saga to bed now.

Forster has yet to break the mould at Southampton this season but hopes to make his mark in January as their current No1 self isolates due to COVID.

Lennon will now need to work with what he has and I, for one, am delighted as we now focus on those players that actually want to be at the club.
