Spanish giants Real Madrid have been linked with a shock move for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard. Spanish media outlet, Defensa Central reported today that the Galactico’s could be tempted to make a bid for the young French U21 international as manager, Zinedine Zidane, has been a long term admirer of the Hoops hitman.
Madrid are reportedly on the lookout for a striker with current striker Karim Benzema turning 34 this season, they are hoping to bring in youth and quality at a reasonable price. This is generally unheard of from the La Liga cracks, but as Defnesa reports, they are feeling the pinch due to the COVID pandemic.
Originally, Madrid where interested in bringing in Mbappe and Haalands but are not willing to splash the cash at this current time. Zidane knows he can get Edouard for around £25m mark and would be looking to invest money they can save in the forward area in other aspects of the team.
With eighteen months left on his current deal, Celtic are looking to cash in on the forward as he has yet to agree to a contract extension. Edouard is rumoured to be one of the players looking to leave Celtic in the summer and this seemingly has altered Zidane to the hitman.
