Gary Hooper was delighted to banish memories of last week’s defeat to Hearts when snatching a last-gasp winner at St Mirren yesterday.
“Paddy came on, set it up well, there was a deflection and I got a toe poke” – Gary Hooper |
Celtic appeared set to be denied victory until the introduction of substitute Paddy McCourt allowed Hooper to prod home a dramatic winner in the second of three added minutes – to the delight of the vast ranks of visiting fans behind the goal.
“We created chances, we kept playing,” Hooper told the Glasgow Evening Times after netting his tenth goal of the campaign. “We bounced back, kept at it and scored with a minute to go.
“Paddy [McCourt] came on, set it up well, there was a deflection and I got a toe poke,” he added. “We got the points which we needed after Hearts and we`re back on the board.”
