‘Good riddance’, ‘Glad’ – Many Celtic fans happy to hear of player exit

Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata has agreed terms with German Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin, according to The Daily Record.

The paper say the Belgian international is on the verge of a Celtic Park exit, with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Hoops manager Neil Lennon has since said there’s a chance he could end up staying in Glasgow, but yesterday’s reports suggested he had knocked back Olympiacos to make the switch to Germany.

Boyata has made 135 appearances since signing for the club from Manchester City in 2015, winning plenty of trophies in the process. Over the last 18 months he’s emerged as our best centre-back, albeit still error prone on occasion.

His reputation with the fans isn’t especially good after last summer’s transfer drama during which he refused to play for the club in a vital UEFA Champions League qualifier.

Plenty then are happy to hear he is imminently on his way out of the club, taking to Twitter to share their thoughts…
