Brendan Rodgers said it was good to return from the winter break with a comfortable victory against Brechin City in the Scottish Cup.

The Hoops were always in total charge and following early goals from James Forrest and Scott Sinclair, the trio of Olivier Ntcham, Dedryck Boyata and Odsonne Edouard added further efforts after the interval.

“It was a good game for us to come back to after three weeks away. It was a professional performance,” Rodgers told BBC Scotland. “We scored some good goals; we created other chances and could have scored more, but we are happy with five.

“We won three trophies last season, we have got one this season and we want to go on and win more,” he added. “We definitely want to get some more players in before the end of January, to help with the creativity in the team. We certainly want to strengthen.”
