Aberdeen defender Scott McKenna won’t be joining Celtic this month after Brendan Rodgers confirmed the club have ended their interest in the player.
Speaking to reporters ahead of Celtic’s clash with FK Suduva in Lithuania, Rodgers said that Aberdeen made it clear the player was not for sale, so there will not be a prolonged pursuit despite an admission the defender is a young prospect that the Celtic boss likes.
It was reported earlier this week that the Hoops had a £3.5m bid for the player kicked out by the Pittodrie outfit.
With just over a week left before the end of the transfer window, the pressure is now to move onto other targets, with supporters desperate to add some defensive depth to the squad.
Many fans are glad though that the defender arriving won’t be Scott McKenna, taking to Twitter this evening to share their delight at Rodgers’ update.

Brendan Rodgers confirms interest in Scott McKenna had ended as Aberdeen have confirmed he is not for sale.
Probably for the best. But we’ve now got 8 days left to add a central defender.
It’s the bare minimum we require. #Celtic.
