Some Celtic fans feel James Forrest should have picked up a player of the year award at last night’s club ceremony.

Callum McGregor picked up the club and players’ Player Of The Year awards after an exceptional season in the heart of the Hoops midfield, a fine achievement indeed.

McGregor has been superb throughout the campaign, scoring six goals and providing 13 assists, as well as providing an all-round midfield game that has given the team so much drive and stability on a consistent basis.

Forrest though has had his best season in a Celtic shirt, scoring a magnificent 17 goals and creating a frankly ridiculous 20 assists. No-one in the Hoops time has directly contributed to more goals than he has.

The winger has matured into one of our most important players after a few years of frustrating form. For him to miss out on awards again is a real shame.

These fans have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on it all…

Who do you think has been Celtic’s best player this season? Have your say in the comments below…

  • Callum a worthy recipient and intelligent creative player.. Jamesy was my choice for another magnificent consistent season…

  • Callum McGregor has been consistent all season and forrest has only turned up in about 10 games.and he shites out of tackles a think that’s why McGregor won them.

  • James Forrest should have gotten the poty. He has been consistent all season. McGregor has not been there the pat 3 or 4 weeks. I hope James gets the Writers poty. He deserves it.

  • As an Aberdeen supporter and as a neutral, James Forest has been Different class this season and just keeps getting better, on the other hand when James has had that few quite games Callum McGreggor just keeps going from strength to strength and in my opinion he is also ready to remove the captains band from Scott Brown, with such young fantastic talent in a sometimes huff n Puff celtic team, these boys are worth the admission money alone, the very best of luck to both and others for the rest of the season and the season ahead, Thank you for making Scottish football exciting,
