As many readers of my blog know, I like to keep my ear close to the ground when it comes to Celtic podcasts.

There are loads of brilliant and knowledgeable fans out there and they are based all over the world.

One of my favourite ones to listen to is Celtic Down Under as Jarrod and the boys give some good insight into the club and fan opinion from down under.

One of the contributor’s to the show, Liam, is a Scotsman based in Japan and I took the opportunity to post him a question via twitter:

“Number one, Daizen Maeda. He’s a a similar type of player to Kyogo, but has a slightly more physical presence about him, and he can play anywhere across the front three.

“He could also deputise for Jota and/or Abada or Forrest in the event of injuries.

“Guys got all the tricks, get him in.”

Maeda is one player I have covered numerous times on this blog and he looks a class act.

At just 23 years old, Maeda has made 6 appearances for Japan and so far this season he has netted 17 goals in 33 appearances for Postecoglou’s old side Yokohama F Marinos.

Clearly, Postecoglou knows Maeda very well and he has already hinted that he is looking towards January to dip his toe into the J League, “Yeah, that’s one of the markets [Japan] we will be looking at,”

“We have already identified targets and begun discussions before we get to January so that we can conclude deals a lot quicker than we did in the previous window.”
