It’s certainly been a day for Tom English news hasn’t it?
Not content with claiming Maeda wouldn’t make his Celtic best XI (after just 74 minutes of action I might add) AND saying Carl Starfelt is not good enough for Celtic, he has also made a strange comment regarding goal hero Daizen Maeda’s debut performance last night against Hibs.
Speaking on BBC Sportsound, English said, “Look, Maeda, you know he gets a goal the first few minutes, which is a dream start, he didn’t do a whole lot apart from that.
“But we know that this guy, is a class player.
“It was his first game and we expect sometimes, because what Kyogo and Hatate has done, we expect them all, all these Japanese guys, to come in and be up to speed at the get go.”
He didn’t do a whole lot after that?
Maeda covered every blade of grass last night.
He harried, closed down, pressed the keeper relentlessly and even done his duty back defending when he had to.
The Celtic striker worked his socks off for the team in a performance that would have pleased Ange Postecoglou.
I sometimes wonder what game these guys watch when they make this kind of analysis?

Tom is right – Maeda never won a scrum against the head all night.
Things you don’t see on tv running off the ball work put in when not on ball making g space for others big Greek done that when he came on gave midfielders a rest but you don’t score you having a bad game rogic has to tighten his game up gave passion away to much
Why does Mr english have such a negative view of all celtic players no matter how good they are the guy’s only been here 5 mins and scored a goal and this is still not good enough for some pundits who just like to talk a load of trash about celtic in general
