Most players, when they leave Celtic, don’t really find another club like us.

They also tend to find that medals and honours are also difficult to come by as most players who leave us tend to go to clubs that can offer the most amount of money.

Why else would Odsonne Edouard go to Crystal Palace and Ryan Christie end up at Bournemouth?

There are exceptions to the rule though and we have seen that in Kieran Tierney.

The former Celtic left-back went to Arsenal and in his first season he picked up an FA Cup winners medal and all going well he will also be crowned a champion of the English Premier League this season.

But this isn’t about Tierney. This is about Erik Sviatchenko.

The big Dane left Celtic in 2018 to FC Midtjylland and since then he has won two Danish titles and two Danish FA Cups.

He is now about to seal a move to the MLS to Houston Dynamo and he was given a glowing recommendation by a Danish journalist.

Speaking to Playing for 90, Toke Møller Theilade, Editor in Chief at Vilfortpark.dk, heaped praise of the former Celtic Treble hero, “He is far too good to play in the Danish Superliga, but his loyalty and devotion to Midtjylland kept him there.

“Houston are getting a nearly complete central defender as Sviatchenko can do it all.

“He is technically gifted, can be deployed as a ball-playing defender, and is skilled at building up play from the back.

“At Midtjylland he was asked to play direct football and boasted a 40% completion rate on long passes.”

Celtic fans can relate to this as we witnessed first-hand just how good the big defender was in our early successes.

Erik won three Scottish titles, one Scottish Cup and two League Cups during his time at Celtic and there is absolutely no doubt that his experience at both Celtic and Midtjylland will spur him onto success in the MLS.

I will be leaving Vital Celtic tomorrow to join John McGinley and Hamish Carton on 67 Hail Hail from Monday the 27th of March.
