Leigh Griffiths scored the winning goal for Celtic against Rosenborg on Thursday night and fans are now calling for him to start ahead of, or with, Odsonne Edouard.
The Scotland international, who recently became the first player since John Hartson to score 100 goals for the club, bailed Celtic out late on against the Norwegians, scoring the crucial goal that gives us three points in Group B of the UEFA Europa League.
It was a tremendous instinctual finish and the kind of clinical action that the had been lacking all night.
With Odsonne Edouard failing to impress, there’s now a big argument for starting Griffiths ahead of Frenchman this Sunday against Kilmarnock.
Given that’s a match we will likely dominate possession in again, should Brendan Rodgers perhaps start both of them in Ayrshire?
These fans took to Twitter this evening to share their thoughts…
Can’t understand why Leigh Griffiths isn’t starting every week, class above Odsonne Edouard and Moussa Dembélé in my opinion

Leigh Griffiths > Odsonne Edouard

He might not have the flashy skills, physicality or club record price tag of Edouard but Griffiths does what’s asked of him whenever called upon. He must start on Sunday if for no other purpose than to give Edouard a kick up the backside.

Edouard needs to be dropped for a few games and start giving Griffiths the starts he deserves #CELRBK

Edouard can't lead the line yet. If he's starting it needs to be beside Griffiths.

Griffiths should be one of the first names on the team sheet every week and that should also have been the case when Dembele was at Celtic too. Edouard not a patch on Griffiths and hard to see how Rodgers prefers him.

There is no doubt that Edouard is/will be a superior footballer to Griffiths but as a goalscorer give me the latter everyday of the week. Get the big man out wide and let two of them at it. That’s the partnership. Some finish wee man 👏🏻👏🏻
