What is he thinking about?

Unless I am mistaken here, it looks like Celtic defender has taken a huge swipe at Ange Postecoglou for his lack of playing time this season?

The big Frenchman had been sidelined for over a year after a horror knee injury picked up when he collided with a post and has since struggled to get into the Celtic squad, never mind the first team.

And this morning it seems Jullien has let his frustration boil over in an interview with Goal.

When asked about how he feels about his own playing time this season, Jullien said, “Since mid-January, I feel 100%, after that it is the choices of the coach.

“It belongs to him and he is successful: we have been champions since Wednesday and in December we won the cup.

“For my part, I told the coach in January that I was ready to go.

“Now it’s his choice and sometimes he doesn’t name me on the bench because he prefers to take a midfielder who can play in central defence.

“I’m unsatisfied with my playing time this season because it’s frustrating and all I want is to be on the pitch.”

He went on further, in what seems like a threat to leave the club if his playing time doesn’t increase, “Despite the fact that I gave everything for this club and I would have liked to bring more to the team this year, the playing time is not there at all.

“I still have a year left of my contract here and I would like to continue playing but my priority is to be on the pitch.

“In my situation and with this current playing time, it is not possible.”

I mean, come on. There is a time and a place.

And going public with these feelings just after an amazing title win is neither.

And correct me if I’m wrong, but I can’t recall too many occasions when Nit Bitton was played in central defence since January, can you?

I think Jullien has overstepped the line here and it will be interesting to see how Ange Postecoglou approaches this at the end of the season.

Also, with the recent update that Bitton is set to leave the club, it seems he could have spoken too soon.

Big man trying to work his ticket. No Biggie, hope Ange tells him to find another club.He has been floating about Lennoxtown in his flipflops.

  • John Trainor says:

Sorry but that a complete no no for me, see you later time for Jullien. Very Poor timing (if there was ever a good time) and time to get rid. If he showed he was good enough he would be playing. He wants to ask Ralston about it….

  • Martin H. says:

Can’t drop successful central defence, just to give him a game, to much at stake, and Ange was proved correct, and Chris, has probably just talked himself into a transfer.

  • DhenBhoy says:

What an utter sh*t stirring article, he hasn’t stated that at all.

He simply stated that he prefers a midfielder on the bench that can cover both those positions if required….

“Now it’s his choice and sometimes he doesn’t name me on the bench because he prefers to take a midfielder who can play in central defence.” Is that what he says aye? Don’t talk nonsense mate. Where does he say he prefers a player that covers both positions? If that’s what he meant then it’s came across very, very poorly. If you’re going to criticise at least get your facts right!

Has Jullien just signed his transfer request?

  • Denis Jamieson says:

I mean he could’ve waited til the summer to make those kind of comments it certainly won’t help his cause any and with the way CCV & Starfelt were playing this season you could’nt drop them could you ? No man is bigger than the club & Ange picks the team who won the League Julian must be the only person not happy at that club right now !!!!

    • Paddy Sinat says:

Yeah, it’s extremely poor timing and in my opinion this comes across really badly. It’s as if he’s saying play me or lose me. But how can Ange? Starfelt and CCV have been absolute rocks in the centre of defence and Bitton has been class. Where I don’t buy the previous commenter claiming he simply says the manager prefers a player who can play both positions, then why is Stephen Welsh picked ahead of Jullien? He’s got to earn his place in the squad

  • Sean McGinley says:

Timing poor. But I understand his frustration and see his point. His time may be up at Parkhead and there was no way CCV was being dropped, which is his side of the defence. Bitton class ??? …. that’s not the way I saw him. Seems to me some have forgotten what Julien was like prior to old firm game and gave as much as anyone at that time. Give a bhoy a break ffs. But then I’m only human and not perfect, certainly haven’t a clue what went on behind the scenes, so how would I know.? However, I think it may be time for Chris to turn another page of his life, although I will be sorry to see him go.

  • George says:

I would say to Jullian to wait and see what happens with CCV . Big Chris is or was more than decent before his injury .. what worries me tho is CCV missed a game for Family reasons and even then he couldn’t get near the team.. If the manager doesn’t fancy him then he’s on his way regardless .
