Well, it has been a week of it! The amount of speculation regarding the Celtic manager job definitely has kept not only the blogosphere busy, but the bookies tills as well.

Favourites, joint favourites and outside bets have all dominated the headlines but there is one name that keeps cropping up this week and his boss has hinted that if the correct club comes along, he will be allowed to go.

Celtic linked John Terry’s boss, Dean Smith, has said that the former England defenders main aim was to eventually become his own man at his own club and it seems that Terry is progressing well at Villa learning the ropes.

Speaking to SportsMole earlier today Smith said, “I haven’t really spoken to JT about it, to be honest. The conversations I have had with JT is that when it suits everybody (he can leave).

“I’ve always said right from the outset that John Terry came here to learn about coaching, and he’s become a very, very good assistant manager to myself. But ultimately, he’s come in to learn the trade to ultimately become a number one.

“He wants to go into management but there’s got to be a right time and the right club for him, and likewise it has to be the right time for Aston Villa as well.

“JT has been part of that conversation all the way through, so we are pretty cool on it.”

It remains to be seen whether the Celtic board would take a gamble on a rookie manager with so much at stake, but with apparent talks taking place to bring in a Director of Football, Terry would have an experienced shoulder to lean on if he was hired for the Parkhead hotseat.
