After Celtic’s 3-0 home victory against Ross County at Parkhead today, you would think that most Celtic minded people would have been happy at the result, especially as it was done without Kyogo Furuhashi.

Much of the attention was on the fact that the Japanese superstar was injured and will be missing from first team duty for at least three weeks.

But it wasn’t the attention of the forward line that caught former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie’s ire today.

Speaking to Football Insider, McAvennie incredibly slammed Hoops full back Anthony Ralston as he found himself out the team due to medical issues, “The fact of the matter is Postecoglou can’t trust Ralston. I’ve said it for ages.

“He’s been around the team for six years and done nothing until the start of this season and in fairness, he’s been on fire.

“Juranovic has been brought in to take his position, he’s not going behind Ralston.

“It’s good to have two right-backs but Postecoglou knows who’s first in the pecking order.”

An extremely harsh opinion by McAvennie which will most likely bring the ire if the Celtic fans who have, on the whole, been a major supporter of Ralston since his sensational return to form.

I hope, for one, that Ralston rams this appraisal by McAvennie somewhere the sun doesn’t shine as all he has done this season is follow his manager’s instructions to the letter.

Ralston not only deserves his place in the squad, but also in the first team and I am looking forward to his return to push Juranovic for that spot in Celtics back four.
