Scott Sinclair scored twice but Celtic were denied maximum points by a couple of late replies from Hibernian at Easter Road.

The 28-year-old opened the visitors’ account after Odsonne Edouard’s initial effort had come back from an upright with just under an hour completed.

Five minutes later Sinclair added his second with a deflection off former Celtic defender Efe Ambrose.

However, Ambrose began the fightback when his 76th minute shot was similarly deflected into the net.

And within three minutes teenage substitute Oli Shaw had levelled and rescued a point for ex-Hoops chief Neil Lennon.

Winger James Forrest earlier dragged a great opportunity wide while keeper Craig Gordon blocked from Martin Boyle at the other end.

Defender Mikael Lustig also curled behind for the visitors, although there were few chances during the opening half.

Home keeper Ofir Marciano soon thwarted Sinclair after the restart, before the former Aston Villa forward reacted first when Edouard’s shot found the woodwork.

Sinclair then added his second after receiving from Callum McGregor, cutting inside and having his low effort deflect beyond the keeper.

Midfielder Olivier Ntcham next tried his luck from distance and Sinclair was only denied his hat-trick by an assistant’s raised flag.

But the hosts were suddenly back in it as Steven Whittaker’s shot was blocked by Kieran Tierney after good work from John McGinn – and Ambrose’s deflected follow-up found the net.

Substitute Moussa Dembele soon called Maricano into action at the other end, until his Hibs counterpart Shaw levelled on the turn with just over ten minutes remaining.

Dedryck Boyata then headed over Stuart Armstrong’s late free-kick for the visitors – and Sinclair also hoisted too high after Lustig had already cleared off the line from youngster Shaw in added time.
