After what seems like an eternity, Celtic have finally been crowned Scottish Premiership champions for season 2019/20 after it was unanimously decided at an SPFL meeting that the season could not be completed.

Since returning from the winter break, Neil Lennon’s men have been relentless, winning all but one domestic fixture and were cruely stopped short in their pursuit of an unprecedented fourth consecutive treble – a feat surely never to be matched – but in a time when good news is scarce, Hoops fans were given a surprise boost when it was revealed that the 2019/20 Scottish Cup could yet be completed, next season.

Despite claims from obvious sources that there will be an asterisk next to the 2019/20 season or that 9-in-a-row is in some way “tainted“, Lennon and his men know that there was only one outcome should the league have been able to be completed and it wasn’t with the gap getting smaller.

True or false, Hearts scored first in last season's Scottish Cup final?

Fans of the triumphant Hoops took to social media to celebrate in response to the announcement and were as unanimous as the decision taken to end the season – echoing the sentiments of the gaffer – in a word, deserved, with some sparing a thought for the serial losers across the city.

The media team certainly hit the mark with a series of digs at their city rivals, who despite celebrating winning the league in December, are further away than they ever were and still well and truly in Celtic’s rear view mirror.
