As Celtic continue their search to strengthen their defence for next season, reports from Italy are suggesting that Polish international Pawel Dawidowicz is on the Hoops radar and an approach could be made at the end of the season.

Celtic seemingly has an approach rebuffed last summer, but now with the Hoops planning a summer rebuilding job, the understanding is that the Parkhead club may return with an offer at the end of the season.

The big six foot two inch defender was signed from Benfica for £3.1m back in July 2019 and with his contract having less than eighteen months to run, it could be that Verona would be looking to recoup most, if not more, of that fee should the Pole decide not to extend his stay at Hellas.

Dawidowicz was plucked from the Polish league by Benfica for just over £1m in July 2014 but was immediately dropped into the reserve team where he hade 66 appearances before being farmed out on loan to Vfl Bochum for a season. The following season he spent a year at Palermo where he appeared 29 times for I Rosanero before finding himself heading to Verona for a second loan spell in the Italian leagues.

So impressive was his form in his 21 appearances for Hellas, they shelled out £3m to make the move permanent in 2019 where he has become a regular starter for the Italians who are currently sitting 9th in Serie A.

Unfortunately for Celtic, it seems Dawidowicz is reluctant to leave Verona and the Serie A and any move would depend on whether any potential offer by Celtic would be good enough for the Italian club to accept and whether any contract offered by the Hoops could entice the big Pole away from the glamour of the Italian top flight.
