It’s fair to say that Kieran Tierney’s future has dominated discussions between Celtic fans this week. We are knee deep in the middle of transfer window gossip and speculation and as usual it’s the Hoops’ best players at the centre of it all.
Has there been a massive overreaction to reports that the left-back could be set for a switch to Everton?
As easy as it is to malign certain sections of the media, the truth is that the reports on Tierney were coming from varied sources in a volume that suggests Everton’s interest is at least genuine.
The Scottish Daily Mail have been leading the rumour mill on Tierney’s potential exit, with their latest report suggesting both Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in his services.
It might be mistrust of the media, or it could be their trust in Tierney, but Celtic fans appear to be pretty unfazed with the speculation so far.
As an example, 69% of respondents to a poll we published on Monday believe that he is going nowhere this summer.
That would certainly be welcome given his importance to Brendan Rodgers’ squad.
Business wise, we’ve spoken this week about how such a move could prove to be inevitable in time, but there’s no doubt that in a football sense the Hoops simply must keep the player at Paradise for as long as possible.
