Hugh Keevins continues Scottish media onslaught on Celtic star

Getting pretty fed up with this if I’m perfectly honest.

Now I get the depth of disappointment at Celtic going out of Europe. I’ve written about it often enough.

In a two legged tie where only one player, Joe Hart, receives pass marks.

But as per usual there is one player that the media continually focus on and berate.

Carl Starfelt.

In his column in the Daily Record this morning, Hugh ridiculed the Swedish centre half when he said,

How often does Postecoglou need to look at Carl Starfelt at the heart of his defence – which has a buy one, get one free promotion going for every side they face at present – before he has serious reservations about him?

“I’m beginning to think I’d do a better job of marking Hibs’ Kevin Nisbet – and I will be 73 in November.”

Was there any other player worth of criticism from Hugh? Rogic who was missing on both legs?

O’Reilly who couldn’t get going?

Or what about Forest who was practically anonymous?

No one can tell me that there isn’t a narrative being punted in the media about Starfelt.

They live a good fall guy.

In fact, when it comes to Celtic any guy is a good fall guy.

And before anyone jumps in, yes I know he’s not the finished article but he’s joined a rebuild.

A team full of faces where no one knew who each other was.

And considering he is at the heart of the best defensive record in the league, I say people need to leave the guy alone.
