Celtic’s search for a left back has bee na chain around their neck ever since Kieran Tierney left for Arsenal in a £25m deal over two seasons ago.

Since then, the club have tried, and failed, with signings such as Boli Bolingoli and Diego Laxalt.

Both found wanting and both clearly not good enough. Following in Tierney’s shoes was always going to be an issue for any player that was going to take over and Greg Taylor has certainly found that.

Taylor has found a new lease of life under Ange Postecoglou and it seems like the boy is playing to keep the shirt but the club are still short of cover and there have been many players linked to Paradise.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Hugh Keevins offered some advice and it would seem, on face value, that his solution to the left back problem would kill two birds with one stone, “Never mind Gordon Strachan. Let me give Dominic McKay my consultancy advice.

“The club has a problem with Leigh Griffiths.  Offer Leigh Griffiths back to Hibs plus money for Josh Doig.”

It certainly was a bold statement but with the club looking for experience over youth, would Josh Doig not only have the ability at nineteen years old to hold that jersey, but does he have the necessary experience with a gruelling season coming up where he could be expected to play over 40 games a season.

And then there’s the striker position. Celtic are already light up top and losing Griffiths when Edouard looks he’s on his way out is simply a non starter.

Good try Hugh, but back to the drawing board!
