At the end of the day, the treble is gone.

But at the start of the season, many of us would have taken a league and cup double if it was offered.

Hell, many of us would have just taken a cup if it was guaranteed and whilst todays result was disappointing, the journey this club is on with Ange Postecoglou is just getting started.

And sometimes in the face of defeat, it can be used as inspiration to spur you on to bigger and greater things.

This is no different. But what you cannot question is the teams work rate and commitment.

And unfortunately, this was when the manager was asked on BBC Sportsound if there was a lack of intensity in the Celtic team.

Postecoglou wasn’t having that and answered, “No, I don’t think so.

“I don’t know how many semi-finals you’ve played in but they’re always really tight.

“Players are afraid to make mistakes because they know what’s at stake.

“I don’t think either team came off today without giving everything they had.”

And he is right. The performance wasn’t there but the commitment was.

Celtic worked hard but just couldn’t find that kind of performance that has seen the team lauded in the past.

It happens.

But you can be sure of is that Ange will use this defeat to focus the minds of the players of the last five games of the season.

Use it to remember the pain of disappointment to ensure that no mistakes are made in the run in.

That is what the silver lining will be this season.

Couldn’t fault the team for effort just didn’t get the result. Pity. Upwards and onwards from here on. As you say in the article we would’ve taken the League cup and being 6 points ahead at this stage if it was on offer after the disaster of last season. Keep the faith..
