You have to love Charlie Adam, right?  Wrong.

But what you do have to love is his inability to get something so completely wrong that when even when he admits it, he still manages to get his digs into Celtic.

Adam predicted on The PLZ Football Show that Celtic would be lucky to get double figures for Edouard in this transfer window just over three weeks ago when he said, “What are you gonna get for him now? Because his performances since he’s come back are not going to get you double figures. So what do they get? £5m for him and take it from there?”

A rather ludicrous suggestion at the time and as the dust settles, Adam made another appearance on the show and he was immediately asked by the presenter to explain himself on his original, and rather ridiculous valuation, “I was right with the five wasn’t I? Listen they’ve got to pay PSG a few quid as well so let’s see what the figures are first.

“I don’t think Celtic will come out and actually say the figures.

“Listen I was a little bit off it, but that’s why I’m not chief executive and I’m a football player.

“So listen, they’ve done well. I think Celtics business out the football club, the money that managed to come in in the last year or so with Frimpong, Edouard and Ajer, it is close to £40 million.

“It’s a lot of money. Twelve new players in. They will be happy and now they’ll be able to push on and try to claw back that defeat on Sunday at Ibrox.”

It’s a tough gig being a football player. Maybe Adam will feel that one day as well.
