As the Celtic team prepare for their final fixture before the World Cup break, the visit of Ross County should be front and centre of the team’s mind.

I’m sure it is but, for the fans, the Motherwell furore still rumbles on and last night, it continued as Motherwell Chief Executive, Alan Burrows opened another can of worms on Twitter last night.

Burrows revealed that there were more VAR cameras that could have been used to make the Jota ‘offside’ call but it was during the conversation with fans about Celtic’s winner, that he seemed to suggest he has sympathy with the officials.

I wrote yesterday about how Well manager Stevie Hammell bemoaned the build-up to Celtic’s winner where he felt Haksabanovic interfered with play.

Pat Bonner also touched on it and he, like me, felt the Motherwell player was at fault as he was trying to be cute with the Celtic winger.

And when asked about it on Twitter, Burrows said this, “I personally think it should’ve been a retake, as it hit off an opponent (happy to accept accidentally) who was not on the pitch, rebounded off his head and onto the pitch to effectively restart the match. The match official saw it differently to that.

“It’s more the technical element of a throw-in hitting a player not on the pitch, deflecting the ball back into play and live (rather then penalising someone who accidentally walks in front of the thrower). Sorta like if a player who may inadvertently block a quick free kick.

“To be fair to officials and those involved, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like that in 30+ years of attending football matches.”

To be honest, neither have I.

I’ve never seen anyone be so daft at a throw-in and try to hit it off a player and the end result of that is your team conceding.

Burrows has a great reputation amongst football fans for his honest opinions and is well respected for taking the time to interact with supporters regardless of the team they support.

Who are Celtic’s most capped players from these countries?

Hi troops .. let’s be honest .. even with the help ofVAR Scottish officiating is pretty dreadful ..As for the tics goal , the throw in took place right in front of me and I honestly assumed the ref would call it straight back to be retaken . Not sour grapes just my honest opinion. There were several bad calls in that match which I think proves without doubt that the officials are absolutely rotten and don’t take advantage of all they have to assist them and that arrogance prevents them from doing so. Things can only get better .For everyone .🙏🙏 Kt
