Brighton midfielder Beram Kayal has spoken highly of his time at Celtic, as he prepares to return to Scotland to take on Alex McLeish’s side with Israel at Hampden.

Kayal made over 130 appearances for the Hoops between 2010 and 2015, winning his fair share of trophies in the process, including fourth successive league titles.

He believes his spell at Celtic did him the world of good and admitted he loves both Glasgow and Scotland.

Speaking to The Scottish Sun, the Israeli international said:

Glasgow is a great place for me. It’s a special city in my life. Coming back will be emotional because I have so many good memories from my time there. I love Glasgow, I love Scotland.

I had happy times at Celtic and to come back for this game will be special. I arrived in Glasgow as a boy and left as a man.

I grew up in my five years at Celtic and I had some great experiences inside and outside of football.

Kayal will be hoping to break Scottish hearts tomorrow though when he takes to the pitch at Hampden. Scotland need a win to gain promotion from their UEFA Nations League group, which will also help them massively in qualifying for Euro 2020.

The Israeli midfielder has made eight Premier League appearances this season, playing at a higher level than any of his compatriots.

Can he inspire his side to a big result at Hampden?
