The report that appeared last week that Celtic would be required to pay £10m for Cameron Carter Vickers hit the headlines like a snowman getting hit with a car.

It was an explosion of white noise that seemed to take an age to die down and not sooner had it done, the claim was being rubbished from sources south of the border.

As well as Sky Sports pundit Mills quashing the fee, podcaster and specialist of all news Tottenham Hotspur has went one step further and claimed that the Scottish media reports of Spurs asking for £10m are ‘ridiculous’.

Speaking to Football Insider, Spurs specialist John Wenham who runs the Lilywhite Rose podcast, has also rubbished the Scottish media claims and revealed what he reckons would be the true cost of signing the big American, “I just cannot see that being the figure.

“I know for a fact Tottenham would have sold him for £2.5million in the summer.

“Tottenham were also happy to sell him for that much in the past.

“The club is realistic in their valuations. He has 18 months remaining on his deal after January.

“There is no way Tottenham are asking for £10million, that’s ridiculous.

“I reckon it will be between £2.5million or £3million.

“That £10million figure is totally wide of the mark.”

So how could a national media outlet like The Daily Record get this so wrong?

How can their information be so poor that the fee they reported is almost FOUR TIMES that of the real evaluation?

I’m sure they’ll do a reprint and report accordingly. Right?
