The transfer market is certain to be a hotbed of activity for Celtic as they (eventually) begin the process of rebuilding the first team. With many players expected to arrive over the summer there will also, naturally, be outgoing as well

Apart from the obvious players that are expected to leave, reporter Mark Guidi, made a concerning admission on The Go Radio Football Show that there are clubs down south in the English Premier League targeting Hoops midfielder Callum McGregor, “The club has still not appointed a new manager.  They are set to lose probably ten players. You could also possibly add Callum McGregor to that list.

“I know of at least, AT LEAST, two English Premier League teams that are interested in him. Callum McGregor is one that’s going to be sought after.

“So that’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out with the new manager and the new hierarchy at the club.”

With Odsonne Edouard, Ryan Christie and Kristoffer Ajer all expected to leave the club alongside current captain Scott Brown, this news will alarm Celtic fans as many will believe that the influential midfielder will be a pivotal figure in the rebuilding process.

With six league titles, three Scottish Cups and five League Cups to his name, McGregor has been central to Celtic’s recent successes and to lose him would be a bitter blow to any new manager coming in.

McGregor’s contract still has three years left to run which will enable Celtic to command top dollar for one of their prized assets but I’m sure the majority of the fans wold prefer the tireless midfielder to stick around for a couple of more seasons yet to get the Hoops back as the dominant force in Scottish football.
