Ever since former Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama made the switch to the Premier League and Southampton back in the summer of 2013, the now 28-year-old has regularly been linked with potential moves back to the club.

With his Tottenham Hotspur dream ultimately turning sour after he was severely hit with injury and slipped down their pecking order, he made the expected move away as a free agent at the turn of the year, signing for MLS Side Montreal Impact in March. We were expectedly linked with him back in January.

With the football calendar suspended at the moment, Wanyama gave a pretty in-depth interview recently to The Athletic and as he discussed his future in the game, he certainly didn’t rule out a return at some point in the next decade.

“I want to play for Celtic again before I finish. I have unfinished business there. I love that club.”

I’d say that was pretty clear. Manager Neil Lennon had previously ruled out a permanent deal for Wanyama, as at the time the expectation was Spurs would want a fee – speculated around the £9million mark – but he continues to be ‘in my thoughts’ a deal down the line would be an option.
