Celtic have many players on the books that need to leave the club.

We all know who they are.

Albian Ajeti and Chris Julienne (?) are two that first spring to mind.

With Bolingoli, Barkas and Soro all moved on, Ange Postecoglou is slowly but surely trimming down the squad from players who will play no part in the clubs future.

But there is one player who is also being tipped to move on.

Mikey Johnstone.

I almost typed ‘young’ Mikey Johnstone but it’s easy to forget that he is now 23 and should be making a more significant impact on the first team than he currently is.

Journalist, Roger Hannah, says it must be now time up for Johnstone as he now lags behind the pecking order.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Hannah said, “I think time has just moved beyond Mikey Johnstone a wee bit. That’s a great shame.

“He’s a terrific talent when he’s fit. He just hasn’t been fit enough.

“Not just during Ange Postecoglou’s time but previous managers as well.

“Jota is now a Celtic player on a permanent five year deal. Liel Abada, Young Player of the Year is in there. James Forrest signed a new deal, he is there.

“Daizen Maeda is there.

“I think too many players are now ahead of Mikey Johnstone.

“Whether it’s a loan move or a permanent move, I think his future lies away.”

I have to be honest, I like Mikey as a player.

He is the type of player Celtic fans like.

Quick, tricky and can beat a man but unfortunately it’s been a long time since the fans have seen that player make that kind of performance at the club and now with so many players ahead of him now, I fear the time for Johnstone to move on could be upon us.

Mike Johnstons boat has well and truly sailed, he can’t get fit and keep himself fit, its time for him to go, I’ve been saying that for 2 yrs, James Forrest is getting there too, too much time on the treatment table, God knows why he got an extension to his contract.
