Whilst the team across the city grab all the headlines for all the wrong reasons, Celtic are moving along quite nicely with their planning for the winter window and beyond.

With the club sitting pretty at the top of the table with on a nine-point advantage, all is looking rosy in the garden for Ange Postecoglou and his men.

Or is it?

Of course it is but whilst discussing the team and the recent events over at our rivals, BBC journalist Tom English, commented that Celtic have not got to where they are by playing our trademark ‘Angeball’.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, English said, “Just to pick up on what you’re saying [Kevin Thompson] and Kheredine was saying about Celtic.

“I don’t think Celtic have established a nine-point lead by playing cosmic football. They haven’t.

“I think this is a bit overblown about Celtic. They’re capable of it.

“They have ground out a lot of results. They have played in some indifferent games but they’ve won them through the force of their personality and character and all the rest of it.

“They’ve dug out wins, some of them very late in games.”

And here is the thing.

We’ve still to find that spark in every game that has seen us pick up a 4-0 win in the Glasgow Derby and a 9-0 win against Dundee United at Tannadice.

English is correct. The football we have been playing certainly has not been ‘cosmic’ but it is extremely efficient.

The possession stats tell you that.

And when the ‘cosmic’ football does kick in on a consistent basis, the teams in this league will be in serious trouble.

As usual the SMSM when CELTIC win pick holes in it. Will CELTIC win every game 4 5 or 6 nil “no” they won’t. Why are we not afforded the saying, teams that grind out results when “not” playing well, is the sign of true champions. An example of this not afforded to CELTIC Is the headlines for the very same situation, a CELTIC goalkeeper makes a save in the last minute at 2/1 he (saved them) . the rangers goalkeeper makes a safe in the last minute at 2/1 “what a save” great goalkeeping, just doing his job. Another 3 points in the bag.

Not Celtic_fc_1888 fault spl teams 10 men behind the ball sometimes 11 then time waisting to break rhythm then go for high ball Hooe for free kick shy then the thing they practice all week ball into box people say it works but it ruins football for the spectators var clock should stop till play starts football bosses take so long doing the right thing

  • FSTB says:

Not surprising we have seen less of Angeball ,considering the concerted campaign from opponents and officals to negate all aspects of our game that relies on it .

Tom English … The Irishman …In Scotland …! Maybe he’s trying to compare Celtic’s cosmic and his employer, the BBC ? Everything in the publicly funded garden , has to be absolutely grandiose and harmonious in Pacific Quay , as it’s policy of employing ex the Rangers EBT recipients and their affiliates in abundance ,will make old auntie Nirvana ,as a place of work ….. Now that’s cosmic …..!
